A running assessment is not just for runners. If you engage in sport, or any other activity which involves running, then you may benefit from this type of assessment.

At Boost Health Collective not everyone who presents to us for a running assessment necessarily has pain. Some people want to improve their technique for better endurance and performance. If you are a sprinter but would like to build up to long distance, then your Podiatrist can recommend some good strength and endurance exercises so you can safely work towards your goals.
We will get you running on the treadmill first, then outside, to see your current technique. By recording your gait from the back and side, your Podiatrist is able to get a full 'snapshot' of your running style. Road running can be different compared to treadmill running. It is important for your Podiatrist to see and record both versions so they can make adjustments according to your needs.

As part of your treatment plan, your Podiatrist may implement the use of running drills or cues. These drills are used to gauge whether there is a visible difference to your gait, pain-levels and whether your running efficiency is improved. If this results in positive change, over an extended period of time, your Podiatrist will implement similar techniques into your training.
After your Podiatrist has assessed your running gait, they will sit down with you to discuss your goals and how they can help you reach them. Increasing endurance? quicker cadence? It is important to have a plan you can visualise, with specific and attainable benchmarks which we can hit along the way. Your podiatrist will teach you strengthening techniques to limit the possibility of re injury as well as increasing your running efficiency. Working together, in collaboration with our Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist or Myotherapists may be suggested to optimize your recovery.
