Commonly known as a ‘moon boot’ a CAM Boot or Walker is used to aid in the recovery of foot and ankle injuries. The design of the boot ensures that the wearer’s foot is immobilized from just below the knee, allowing bones, joints and muscle tissue to heal correctly.
From small sprains to serious fractures, a CAM Boot can be used to assist in the recovery of a number of different injuries. You podiatrist may ask you to wear a boot after a foot or ankle surgery, to ensure that there are no complications with your recovery and ensure you’re back on your feet in no time at all.
Unlike crutches, Cam Boots allow patients to move with greater freedom, helping them to go about their day-to-day lives even as they recover.
