Summer is well and truly upon us, this means more time outside, barefoot or in thongs, in the heat and dry environment. With longer days, warmer weather, and people becoming more active, it’s important to take care of your feet.
Here are five ways to keep your feet happy this summer:
1. Wear Archies thongs
The weather is warm, and your feet are hot. Time to break out your thongs! But many people who wear thongs for long periods can end up with sore feet. A great way to combat this is by wearing a supportive thong such as Archies. Archies thongs contour to your foot’s arch, soften as you wear them, and look just like normal thongs – you won’t even notice the difference!
2. Moisturise your feet
Moisturising your feet in the morning and at night can help prevent cracked and dry heels that may occur from friction and pressure while wearing summer footwear. Moisturising will help keep your skin soft and healthy.
3. Build into exercise slowly
With the warmer weather, people want to get outside and be active. If you haven’t been exercising much over winter, it’s best to start slowly. For example, instead of going for a full run, try a walk/run combination where you run for shorter intervals to ease into your fitness routine.
4. Sunscreen your feet
Excessive sun exposure can do more than give you a tan or a burn, it can damage your skin. Many people forget to put sunscreen on the tops of their feet. Make sure you do, as the sun doesn’t discriminate between the skin on your feet and the rest of your body!
5. Spend some time barefoot
Let your toes spread and strengthen! Whether in the backyard or around the house, spending time barefoot in summer is a great way to improve foot strength and comfort.
